The Wood Life 1

Flock diversity among birds fascinates me. My first trip to the Himalayas as a child was my first exposure to this immense variation of size, shape, and colour. Many years later, on my first trip to the North East Himalayas, I found myself as excited and fascinated as I was when a child. This painting is my expression of that delight. A gold fronted leaf bird, black throated tits, and yellow bellied fantails, an immense tropical butterfly, the red lacewing, and the woodlands clothed in wild banana with strongly scented coelogyne orchids embellish the canvas.
