Paradise 1

This commissioned work has appeared in Sanctuary Magazine, December 2016. The client was looking at a large sized work that would include birds and a flowering orchid from the north eastern Himalayas. The greater necklace laughing thrush, the star, was a challenge to paint as I wanted to depict her with her breast fluffed uphe orchid depicted is Dendrobium nobile, a fairly common flowering orchid in the north eastern and eastern Himalayas.
