Trogons and Nuthatches

Malabar trogons are endemic to forests south of the Vindhyas. Their habitat is lush, evergreen and smothered in flora where velvet fronted nuthatches often, busily probe through moss covered bark, foraging for insects. The Impatiens parasiticum is a localised Impatiens found in heavy rainfall areas of Kerala. It is a rare epiphytic caudiciform Impatiens with swollen stems that store energy for the short dry season. They grow on aging tree branches in plenty of moss, quite like orchids.
